Up to six hammocks can be clamped to the post at a time

Homewood resident JW Bird installed six posts, each about 10 feet apart, allowing visitors to clip into Eagles Nest Outfitters or similar branded hammocks without using any hammock straps or trees.Up to six hammocks can be clamped to the post at a time.
“I like to use my hammock whenever we go camping with the Boy Scouts or my family goes to the lake,” Bird said.”It’s comfortable to just relax there.”
Bird, who lives near Central Park, said he’s noticed no projects there recently. He found a shady spot in the back and thought it would be the perfect place for a hammock setup.
“There are trees where I’m doing this project, but they’re so far apart,” he said. One disadvantage of using an ENO hammock is that the user needs to find two trees that are close enough to each other to hang a hammock between them.Bird also said the park board discourages the use of the park’s trees for hammocks.
Bird said he had a lot of people saying they had used the new stands and people were loving them so far.Bird himself and his friends use them “quite a lot”, he said.
Bird is a student at Homewood High School and will be in grade 11 this year.He is a member of the 79th Boy Scouts.
